Troop 475 - New Trailer Info

Hi-Way Star

This is probably the Cadillac of trailers. Hi-Way Star is a local company here in Pasco (54 just north of the executive airport). I met with the president of the company, got a tour of the facility and talked a bit about the product. Here is the information from their brochures:

Additional Items of Interest:

  • Since it is a tube steel frame and the 'skin' is bonded, there are no rivets, no 'dimples' and no rust or weather marks. It really make for a nice clean smooth look.

  • The wheel fenders are diamond plate.

  • The owner said that a 12 foot will be just as easy to tow as a 10 foot and he recommended it

  • The torsion bars are a much smoother ride.

  • Because of torsion bars, the floor of the trailer is a bit lower which makes lifting stuff into it easier, plus it lowers the center of gravity to make it more stable.

  • The tube steel frame means that the 'carcass' provides the structural support rather than depending on a 'unibody' type of construction for rigidity.

  • The tube steel frame will make mounting the shelves, bike racks, etc. very secure.

  • The hardware (hinges, etc.) looks 'beefier' than the other stuff I have seen
